Cool Summer Pet Treats

On a hot Summer day, we think your pet should be able to enjoy some yummy treats that will also help keep them cool. Ice cube trays make great treat makers and you can even have fun and get them in several sizes and shapes.

Fruity Frosty Pet Treats
What you will need:

  • 1 32oz low-fat plain yogurt
  • 3 small scoops of blueberries
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 2tbsp of peanut butter

Mash the banana and mix ingredients together. Spoon in to ice cube trays.

Meaty Veggie Chiller
What you will need:

  • 2 cups of cooked meat/poultry/fish
  • 3/4 cup of low-fat plain yogurt
  • 1 Small scoop of finely chopped parsley
  • 1 cooked and mashed carrot
  • 3tbsp of olive oil

Mix ingredients together. Spoon in to ice cube trays.

* For each recipe, you can place a bone shaped dog treat in the middle so that it freezes in to the mixture. Then once frozen, pop them out and give to your pet, the bone will work like an edible popsicle stick.  You will want to place somewhere you do not mind getting messy as they will most likely will want to lick the treat off the floor.

* If your pet is on a restricted diet just add water to their canned or dry food, mash it up and place in ice cube trays. This way they don’t miss out in the Summer fun!
